The Secret Garden Studio in Lovettsville Va

The Secret Garden Studio is located in Lovettsville, Va., about 20 min from Leesburg, Virginia and Frederick, Maryland. It is a dedicated photography studio owned and operated by Chip York Photography. We have multiple backdrops, sets, and professional lighting ready for the work at hand. We also have a well-lighted makeup counter in a private changing area.

The entrance to the Studio is through the Secret Garden, a secluded walled garden. During the spring and fall the secret garden offers an excellent photography setting as well as a nice shady place to sit and relax. Summer hops and grape vines add to the lush foliage, flowers and the sound of its water feature. It is a inviting innovative space constructed out of architectural salvage modestly decorated with found object art, private outdoor clawfoot bath, and fireplace.

Entrance to the Secret Garden Studio is though a wall private garden.

Photographers – the Secret Garden Studio is available for per-shoot rental.

Children

Play is the best way to get pictures of kids. A studio portrait can give you sharp results, but having young children’s pictures taken at home or at a favorite scenic location can give you something more personal to treasure. We do both studio and location portraits.
Chip York has a great deal of experience working with children and youth — even before he became a father ten years ago. He has been an educator, instructor, counselor, and mentor in both paid and volunteer positions.Parents and Guardians Please Note:

In-Studio or On-Location

We do most of our portrait work at Chip York’s own Secret Garden Studio in Lovettsville, Virginia (open by appointment only). The Studio is fully equipped with photographic backdrops, lighting, costumes, makeup, and a private changing area and make-up station. The studio is accessible to people with disabilities and has ample off-street parking.

We will also travel to your location — not only for weddings and events, but also for portraits. If you would like a portrait in your own home, or in a special place like a garden or a park, we can accommodate you.

Every special event is different, so we offer customized packages to suit your needs.Much of the joy and romance of a wedding, or the fun and spirit of a party or concert, happens spontaneously. In addition to traditional formal portraits and groupings, we also take an “event journalism” approach, catching the candid.

This combination gives you an album of memories to treasure, instead of a collection of stiff generic pictures.

We also are committed to being polite, helpful, and as unobtrusive as possible.

Styling

Fashion industry standard isn’t everyone’s idea of beauty.

We want you to have pictures that look like you, not like an airbrushed mannequin, but hairstyling and makeup are an important part of the photo process.

The right styling can make you look more like yourself in a picture. For example, people with very fair eyebrows and lashes can look washed-out under photographic lights or bright daylight. A little mascara can work wonders.

We can offer guidance on how to play up your best features. You can do your hair and makeup yourself (on your own or in our studio), or if you like we can bring an expert in to help you.
